"I spent a lot of time at the Vic when my husband was a patient there, and I got to know some of the nurses very well. I'm still interested in what's happening at the Vic."
- Mrs. Betty Buggey, donor & centenarian
In October 2008, Victoria Lifeline, a personal response service of the VGH Foundation, celebrated its 20th anniversary by hosting a unique event honouring Manitoba's centenarians.
The Celebrating Centenarians event involved Victoria Lifeline staff and local personalities visiting centenarians in their homes to celebrate this significant milestone. Parties were held simultaneously in Winnipeg with eight current or former subscribers along with guests of their choosing. Five other parties will ben held in rural Manitoba with the assistance of local coordinators or healthcare conatcts.
One of these centenarians was Mrs. Betty Buggey, a former Victoria Lifeline subscriber and cherished friend and supporter of the Vic. Mrs. Buggey turned 100 years of age in October 2008.
