"Two of our children were born at the Vic, so I know how important this hospital and these projects are to the community. I am honoured to support the hospital in this way."
- Brent Pooles, 2011 Society member, and family
The 2011 Society is a distinguished gift-giving club whose mission is to raise $1 million for priority projects within the hospital (like the new Emergency Centre) prior to the Vic's 100th anniversary in 2011.
Members are community and business leaders who are committed to preserving the quality of health care in the community. They commit to an annual donation of $1,000 (Champion), $5,000 (Guardian), or $10,000 (Visionary). Those who commit to a five year pledge at any level automatically become members of the 2011 Society President's Club.
Each year, members are invited to an exclusive reception with the President of the hospital. This year's reception featured new VGH President Francis LaBossière, who spoke about the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead for the Vic.
To date, the group has raised over $250,000 in support of priority projects at the Vic.
