New Opportunity for Health Promotion in your Community
Victoria Lifeline, a not-for-profit service of the Victoria General Hospital, works with many rural communities in Manitoba to broaden the reach of our personal alarm service are far as possible throughout the province. To acknowledge the contributions of our rural partners to the success of Victoria Lifeline, the Victoria General Hospital Foundation Board that manages Victoria Lifeline has established three grants (maximum $1,000 each) to be awarded to Manitoba communities that are affiliated with Victoria Lifeline. Non-profit agencies or community groups can apply for a grant to cover the cost of a project, event or equipment that will contribute to the safety, independence, health education, active living and/or health of older adults (and possibly others) in the community.
Examples are:
- Covering speaker costs for a health education series
- Scholarship for a local student toward a nursing, allied health or medical degree
- Purchasing a defibrillator or exercise equipment for a senior centre
A selection committee from the VGH Foundation Board will be responsible for evaluating the submissions and choosing up to three successful applicants. Selection criteria will balance regional considerations with proposal merits and ability to provide reasonable recognition for Victoria Lifeline.
Deadline for submissions is March 31, 2010. Successful applicants will be notified in June of 2010.
