Relocation Program Relocation assistance for staff can be negotiated at point of recruitment .
Nursing: The Nurses Recruitment and Retention Fund offers many opportunities for Nurses to relocate to Manitoba. If eligible you could receive up to $5000 reimbursement toward your moving expenses. Refresher courses may also be funded (80% up to $2000) if you qualify. Relocation allowance is available only to those obtaining a EFT .6 position or more.

Insurance and Benefits The Victoria General Hospital has a comprehensive benefit program. Benefits will vary between collective agreements but generally provide the following for full/part employees: Pension, Life Insurance, Dental Insurance (Blue Cross), Group Health Care Plan (Blue Cross), Employee Assistance(EAP). Long Term Disability Insurance is also offered for full-time and part-time employees.
Mobility within the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority is available through most Bargaining Units.

Life Insurance Plan: The Victoria General Hospital offers Basic Life Insurance, currently pays the entire premium of this insurance on your behalf.
Dental: Dental Insurance (Blue Cross) is available to part-time and full-time employees. The Hospital currently pays 50% of the basic coverage.
Group Health: The Group Health Care Plan (Blue Cross) provides you and/or your family with Ambulance and Semi-Private Hospital service, Physiotherapy, Chiropody, Prescription Drugs and partial travel protection.  Plans are available at the employees request.
Disability and Rehabilitation coverage: Disability and Rehabilitation benefit coverage is also offered for full-time and part-time employees.
EAP: Blue Cross offers the Employee Assistance Plan to all employees of the hospital in a highly confidential manner. Any personal problems an employee may have, that requires any form of counseling, is taken care of by the EAP program, at no cost.

Education Employees of The Victoria General Hospital are encouraged to participate in professional and continuing education programs. There are several scholarships that are available for staff in order to assist with financing courses towards their continuing education. A strong educational focus is recognized by the presence of clinical educators who are assigned to work with the staff of the various Programs: there is also a hospital-wide educator to deal with issues that affect staff of the entire facility.
The hospital provides clinical experience for students in various health related faculties at University of Manitoba, Red River College, Winnipeg Technical College, Brandon University, Assiniboine College and other vocational institutions. This liaison with educational institutions provides staff the opportunity to enhance their preceptorship and mentoring skills, as well as providing the platform for staff to showcase all the good things about Victoria General Hospital in order that new graduates will consider employment here.
Career Development Victoria General Hospital offers a variety of scholarships to all staff. Scholarships are based on satisfactory employment records, years of employment, above average employee appraisals, pursuing or upgrading qualifications in Health Care related careers, and a letter-confirming enrollment from the educational institution must be attached. Applications are due March 31st of every year.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is orientation provided? Providing orientation is important to the Victoria General Hospital to ensure our new employees are comfortable to their new surroundings and all of their questions and comments/concerns can be heard. Some of the topics discussed in the orientation are who are we? Supporting our key beliefs, emergency measures and a tour of the facility.
Does the Vic have a Quality program? The Victoria General Hospital believes in making continual improvements in processes and performing to achieve better results the customer is the most important element. Providing the best effort to deliver care, service, and respect to our customers, is the responsibility of each and every employee at the Victoria General Hospital.
Is there a cafeteria? The Café Vic has 2 main entrees a day along with a salad bar, sandwiches, desserts, breakfasts and also caters banquets. There are wide varieties of delicious food items to chose from. Hours of operation are daily from 730am to 7 PM
Is parking available and how much is it? Visitor parking is available in front of the Hospital. For staff of The Victoria General Hospital parking is $0.22 cents for every hour paid and is monitored by security staff and Impark.
Recreation Programs
The Recreation Committee's mandate is "to encourage goodwill and fellowship amongst hospital employees through the promotion of approved activities.
