Miracle Garden

Historically, wild plants have been used to treat everything from the common cold to the pain of childbirth. Early peoples, who were dependent on nature for their very existence, learned about the medicinal properties of plants through keen observation and experimentation.

An exciting component of the Victoria General Hospital redevelopment will be the addition of a Miracle Garden featuring plants native to Manitoba – such as trembling aspen, wild rose, and even the common cattail – known for their curative properties.

The garden will celebrate the historic origins of modern medicine and the miracles that happen everyday at the Hospital.

The plants healing properties are miracles themselves.

It will provide patients with an environment designed to feed the spirit and nurture emotional health. This can have a dramatic, positive effect on ones ability to heal from illness or injury.

Our Miracle Garden will feature special, dedicated components including a Herb Garden, a Rose Garden, contemplative areas and family gathering spots. Each will be designed to create a tranquil and welcoming setting for patients, families and staff.
